We are delighted to report that the Neighborhood Plan has been passed with a resounding YES!

Here are some quick stats on the election.

The Parish has a total Electorate of 675 and the total number of votes cast yesterday was 301…so that’s a turnout of 45%

Of the 301 votes cast, 261 people voted YES, 37 people voted NO and 3 ballot papers were rejected.

So 87% of people who voted, voted yes.

This is a fantastic result for our community, delivering on your wishes.

Well done to everyone involved in producing the plan and thanks to all for your time and hard work on this over the last 5 years.

The Neighbourhood Plan will have real legal weight

The Ropsley & District Neighbourhood Plan, now forms part of South Kesteven’s “Development Plan” and will have real influence over planning in the Parish because it will be a “Material Consideration” in planning decisions.

The vision for Ropsley & District is…

That in 2036 Ropsley & District (comprising Ropsley, Braceby, Sapperton, Little Humby and Great Humby) will be five distinct, sustainable and vibrant rural settlements, surrounded by attractive open countryside. Ropsley & District will contain communities that value and look after their historic buildings and the natural environment. Whilst being physically separate from Grantham, there will be good links to the employment, services, and facilities that the town offers. Furthermore the plan aims to;

  • Protect the distinct identity of Ropsley and District and within it, the individual nature and setting of its five settlements.
  • Define, protect and enhance the distinctive landscape of Ropsley and District.
  • Protect and enhance built environment (heritage) assets, archaeological sites and natural environment assets, including biodiversity.
  • Maintain and develop local services and facilities to ensure a sustainable and viable community.
  • Encourage and enable sustainable development including energy efficient buildings, active travel and access into the countryside.
  • Enable appropriate small scale residential development, with a range of house types and sizes to meet the needs and aspirations of local people.
