Minutes Extraordinary Meeting March 2022

Minutes of the Extraordinary Meeting of Ropsley & District Parish Council held at Ropsley Hall on Thursday 24 March 2022.
 
The Chairman opened the meeting at 6.35pm
 
1. WELCOME REMARKS BY THE CHAIRMAN (21/80)
The Chairman welcomed Members to the meeting and thanked them for their attendance.  Those in attendance, the Vice-Chair Councillor Marshall, Councillors Gosbee, Leslie and Rowbotham.  The Clerk, Mrs Gascoigne, was in attendance remotely via video call.   
 
2. APOLOGIES:  TO RECEIVE APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE AND TO RESOLVE TO ACCEPT REASONS GIVEN (21/81)
The Chairman gave apologies on behalf of Councillor Reeves, the reason for which was accepted.  Councillors Sentance and Porter were not in attendance. 
 
3. DECLARATIONS OF PECUNIARY INTEREST AND REQUESTS FOR DISPENSATION (21/82)
No declarations of pecuniary interest or requests for dispensation were made.
 
4. COMMUNITY UPDATES (21/83)
4.1 The Chairman referred to a document circulated before the meeting outlining various options for circular benches to fit around the village sign.  He noted that the prices ranged from £300 to £3,000, with the cheaper options being manufactured from eucalyptus wood, with metal joints, and the more expensive options being teak with mortice joints.  He also informed Councillors that a resident had offered to install the bench free of charge.
 
Following a discussion of the available options, Councillor Marshall proposed that the Council order a teak bench of 150cm in diameter from Leisurebench at a cost of £750 excluding VAT, which would seat four to six people, with approval of costs of up to £100 each for a commemorative plaque and ground anchor if required.
Resolved: To approve the purchase of a circular bench from Leisurebench at a cost of £750 ex VAT, and to approve up to £100 each for a ground anchor and commemorative plaque.
Action: The Clerk to place the order for the bench.

5.1 Monday 9 May at 7pm at Ropsley Hall (Annual Parish Council Meeting).
